Duties / Objectives
NOTE: District Youth Chairpersons are required to have a current Working with Children Clearance or a Queensland Blue Card, please provide these details to Cabinet Secretary.
The Australian Lions Youth of the Year Program is one of the largest and most successful youth programs in MD 201. It has been running since 1964 and each year more than 3000 young people participate in it. It showcases both our youth and Lions.
- Promoting the Youth of the Year Program and Committee objectives within the district clubs.
- Formulating District goals in conjunction with the District Governor and/or the Multiple District Coordinator for Youth Projects
- Coordinating all activities pertaining to Youth of the Year within the District of responsibility.
- Assist Club, Zone and Region Chairpersons in the District with all matters relating to the Program by acting as a resource person.
- Conduct training and information seminars with Club Chairpersons and Zone Chairpersons.
- Promote the Program within the District and encourage Lions & Leo Clubs to become involved.
- Mount a static display and promote the Program at the 201Q1 District convention.
- Prepare an annual budget for the administration of the Youth of the Year Program within the District and submit it to the District Cabinet for approval.
- Manage the expenses of the district budget and submit all expenses to the Cabinet Treasurer for payment or reimbursement.
- Conduct the District Final, in consultation with the District Governor and Club Chairpersons, and assist the State Chairperson with the State Final, as required.
- Arrange travel and accommodation for the District Winner, to travel to the venue of the State Final. This needs to be read in conjunction with the policy:
- Assist with the arrangements for travel, accommodation, and itinerary for the State Winner’s Tour, if the National Winner is from the Q1 District
- Arrange the involvement of the corporate sponsor in activities within the district.
- Maintain the District’s participation data and submit it to the National YOTY Chairperson after the conclusion of the District Final.
