It is with deep sadness that the Lions Club of Warwick advises that Lion John Griffith passed away on 5 October 2026, following his battle with illness.
John served our club and district with dedication over many years. His leadership roles included Zone Chairperson, several terms as Club President, and many years as Club Secretary, along with service as First Vice President, Club Administrator and LCIF Coordinator.
In recognition of his service, John was honoured with both the Australian Lions Foundation’s James D. Richardson Award and a Melvin Jones Fellowship.
His commitment to Lions and his contribution to our community will be remembered with gratitude. He will be sadly missed by our members and his fellow Lions throughout the district.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Lion Halina, a fellow member of the Lions Club of Warwick, and to John’s family, friends and fellow Lions. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

It is with great sadness that I have to advise that our loved member Beryl Goodey passed away on Monday 28th September. Beryl was 90 years of age and loved being a member of our club and had achieved 20 years of service.

Lions Club of Capalaba
It is with a very heavy heart that I share the very sad news that Lion Wendy Kunst passed away today, beloved wife of Lion Tom Kunst.
Wendy joined the Lions Club of Redland City in 2021 and transferred to the Lions Club of Capalaba in 2022. During her time with Lions, Wendy became a much-loved member of our Lions family, and she will be remembered fondly by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Losing a member of our Lions family is never easy. Wendy will be missed, by the members of Capalaba and Redland City, and the many Lions who knew her and shared time with her over the years.
Please keep Lion Tom and his family in your thoughts and hearts during this incredibly difficult time.
Lions Club of Logan Underwood
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Lion Elaine Yuile, a devoted member of Lions Australia for many years and a proud Charter Member of our Lions club of Logan Underwood Inc. Elaine passed today just after 1 pm.
Lion Elaine was passionate about serving her community and was deeply devoted to her family. Throughout her years withour Lions club, she served on the Board as a Director and provided invaluable support to fellow members. Elaine also undertook the role of Newsletter Editor, where her dedication and commitment helped keep members informed, connected, and entertained.
Elaine and her late husband Kieth were members of the Rochedale Springwood Lions Club where Kieth was the president of that club before they both transferred to the Lions Club of Logan Underwood in May of 2017. Elaine and Kieth were exchange Lions where they travelled to Denmark to represent District 201q1 with the friendship exchange program. That was a highlight of Lions friendship program for them both where they had a wonderful experience meeting other Lions and forming wonderful friendships across the world.
Elaine thoroughly enjoyed attending club functions and social events and was a valued friend to many. Her contribution to Lions and her community will be remembered with gratitude and respect.
Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time. Details of the funeral arrangements will be shared with members in due course.

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of one of our valued and dedicated Lions. Their service, commitment, and fellowship have left a lasting impact on our Lions family and the community they so faithfully served.
We remember Life Member Jim Goodwin from the Lions Club of Sunnybank, whose contribution to Lionism will be long remembered and deeply missed.
Lion Jim joined Lions in 1970 and transferred to the Lions Club of Sunnybank in 1994.
Lion Jim passed on 20th July and was privately cremated, there will be no funeral.

Our member and current President/Treasurer, Lion Wayne Thomas, passed away peacefully this morning, 13 May 2026.
Wayne was a member of our Club from 2001 and previously a member of Maryborough and Castlemaine Lions Clubs in Victoria.
Wayne served as President of our Club from 2021 to date and was Zone Chairman from 2024-2025.
Wayne held several roles during his time in Lions and will be missed by past and current members and the wider Ballina Community.

Very sad news. I’ve just heard from Kathlyn that her sister, Lion Libby McCarthy passed away peacefully last night. (10th May 2026)
I’m certain you all join with me in extending deepest condolences to Kathlyn.
Libby was a wonderful person with a very loving heart and a great sense of humour. She was also a very committed Lion and when enjoying better health was very involved with our activities.
Libby was our friend and we will dearly miss her.

It is with great sadness that I advise Lion Reg Laurie died today, 2 May, after a long illness at 11:20 am.
He had been in palliative care for the past week, and prior to that, his health had been deteriorating for some time.
Reg, LCI Member number 439878, joined Ballina Lions on 1 May 2001 and served as a member of Ballina Lions Club for exactly 25 years.
We remember well his funny jokes, his active involvement as Lion Tamer, Property Officer and of course his involvement with all our club projects such as BBQ's, Recycling, Fun Runs and cakes.
Reg is a Melvin Jones Fellowship recipient awarded at the 2018 Club Changeover Dinner, which also celebrated 65 years of service to the community.
He is survived by Generisa, to whom we extend our deepest sympathies.
I will organise, through Ballina Shire Council, a Memorial plaque to be erected on the Ballina Lions Memorial Wall in Missingham Memorial Park. This will be installed together with Lion John Grant, who died 25 February 2026, at a date to be announced when the plaques are prepared and ready for installation.
He will be sorely missed.

It is with deep regret that I advise the passing of Life Member Lion John Grant last night (24 February).
John joined Lions Clubs in January 1985 and transferred to Ballina Lions in mid 1990's. He will be missed enormously.

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Lion Lionel Frame on the 21 February.
Lionel was the longest serving member of Casino having served our community for 41 years, he had served on District cabinet and the Northern Rivers Trust for many years and was an avid collector of pins.

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Lion Michael Brown in the early hours of Sunday 28 December. We remember Michael for his outstanding service to Lions and to his community.
Michael served as a Director this year and Cake Chairperson for a number of years. He served in Lions for more than 20 years, and his dedication was exemplified by him continuing to sell Lions cakes even from his hospital bed. At our Changeover in July, Michael was awarded the Ian M Stockdale Humanitarian Award in recognition of his commitment to humanitarian services.
Our thoughts are with his wife, Gena and Michael’s family during this difficult time.

It is with sad news that we inform our members that PDG Brian Gent OAM (1977-78) passed away yesterday 23/12/25. Brian was the First DG for the newly formed Q District in 1977. He was a member of Surfers Paradise and later moved to the Lions Club of Southport, where he served until 2016.
PDG Brian and Noreen celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last year.
PDG Brian was awarded an OAM in 2017 for service to the community of the Gold Coast.
