For those of you who don’t already know me let me introduce myself, I’m PCC Kim Forrest, and I’m proud to serve, this year, as the Lions Eye Health Project Coordinator for District 201Q1.

I would love, this year, the opportunity to visit your Club or zone meeting—whether it’s to deliver a training day or simply to talk more about this meaningful project and how your members can get involved.

If you have already completed the online segment and had a face-to-face training, let’s move on to get you ready to do the screening at schools, or maybe you would like to become a facilitator. Let’s get this happening so that we can get into more schools this year.

Good vision is essential for a child’s learning, development, and overall well-being. Yet, thousands of children suffer from undetected vision problems that can affect their education and quality of life.

We have already found on average that’s 1 in 5 children can benefit from our help.
That’s where the Lions Children's Eye Health Screening Program makes a life-changing difference.

This initiative empowers Lions Clubs to provide free, non-invasive vision screenings for children aged 3 to 8 years and older, using simple, portable technology. The screenings are fast, safe, and effective, often taking less than a minute—and can detect conditions like amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (eye misalignment), and refractive errors early, when treatment is most effective.

By partnering with local schools, childcare centres, and health services, Lions Clubs become vital advocates for children's eye health in their communities. Training and support are provided to ensure volunteers feel confident and capable in delivering this service.
