2025-26 Theme “Together as One”
With conflict affecting so many parts of the world today there is no better time than now for Lions clubs to promote peace through participation in the Lions International Peace Poster and Peace Essay contests.
Clubs from all Lions International contitutional areas particpate in this wonderful and important project that provides an avenue for young people aged 11-13 to showcase their talents and share their vision of peace through art and the written word.
If your club has been involved in the PeacePoster/Essay contest previously you will know how deeply many young people think about peace and how important it is that we can provide an avenue for them to express their thoughts. If your club has not been involved previously I recommend you give it a go and I gaurantee you will be inspired by the perceptions of peace and artistic talent of the young people in your area.
You can look to your local primary and secondary schools, Scouts, Guides and other organised youth groups to gain contestants. Should a group be interested your club needs to order a Peace Contest Kit from the Lions store https://www.lionsclubsshop.com.au ($25.00 plus postage). A separate kit must be purchased for each goup your club is sponsoring. Cut off date for purchasing kits for the 2025/26 contest is October 1.
All entries are submitted to your Lions club for judging and the winning entry from each group must be sent to the District Peace Poster chair by November 15.
A certificate for the group winner is in the kit and a copy of a participation certificate can be emailed to your club should you decide to provide one for all students who entered the contest.
The MD winners in the Peace Poster and Peace Essay contests each receive a plaque and $200.00 cheque, which will be presented at the MD convention each year.

As noted in the UNESCO contitution. "Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed.” The aim of the peace contests is to start this construction in young minds.
