The Australian Lions Wellbeing Foundation is guided by a dedicated Board of Directors made up of Lions from across Australia who are passionate about supporting the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.
Our Directors bring a wide range of experience from their professional careers, Lions leadership roles and community service. Together they help guide the Foundation’s strategy, oversee our programs and ensure we continue to provide practical wellbeing resources that Lions Clubs can use in their communities.
At our recent Board training weekend we were pleased to formally welcome our newest Directors and spend time strengthening our governance, planning for the future, and exploring opportunities to further support Lions and the communities they serve.
We also welcomed David Triffett, as our new Vice Chair.

Updated Factsheet – Worried About Someone’s Drinking
It can be difficult to know what to do when you are worried about someone you care about and their alcohol or other drug use. Many people notice changes in behaviour or wellbeing but are unsure how to start the conversation or where to find helpful information.
We have recently updated our factsheet “Worried about someone’s alcohol or other drug use?” to provide clear, practical guidance for people who may be concerned about a loved one.
The resource outlines:
- Common signs that alcohol or other drug use may be becoming a problem
- How to approach a conversation with care and concern
- Ways to look after your own wellbeing while supporting someone else
- Support services available in Australia
This easy-to-read resource is available on the website, and also in downloadable form so it can be shared within your community, displayed at events, or printed for people who may be seeking guidance on how to support someone close to them.

2026 ALWF Health and Wellbeing Calendar
Throughout the year there are many national and international health and wellbeing awareness days and weeks that Lions Clubs can use as opportunities to start conversations, run activities, and support their communities.
To help your club plan and get involved, we have created the ALWF Health & Wellbeing Calendar.

Congratulations to Lions in WA – World Record Sausage Sizzle for Suicide Awareness and Prevention
We would like to congratulate Lions in WAand the incredible volunteers involved in the recent World Record 102-Hour Sausage Sizzle — an extraordinary community effort.
Over more than four days of non-stop cooking, Lions volunteers served 8,200 sausages and raised an impressive $50,000for Beacon of Light, supporting suicide awareness and prevention initiatives.

The event brought together Lions members, local bands, and the wider community, creating an energetic and inspiring atmosphere with the BBQ running around the clock. It was a powerful demonstration of what can be achieved when communities come together with a shared purpose.
