• To act as a liaison between the District Governor’s Team and the District Development Team to implement the District Development Plan incorporating the District Membership Plan and District Leadership Plan all covering a three-year period.
• The 1st Vice District Governor will liaise with the GMT Development coordinator.
• The 2nd Vice District Governor will liaise with the Zone chairs.
• Together, with the Coordinators and the District Governor, prepare action plans to deliver the district goals.
• Oversee the implementation of the above action plans whilst motivating, helping, and encouraging the members of this Team to achieve their goals.
• Develop a sound knowledge of all the portfolios within this group as preparation for the role of District Governor.
• Assist with the training of club/district officers and the orientation of new members as and when required.
• Visit clubs on behalf of the District Governor presenting the International President’s theme/message, explaining the District Governor’s strategic goals for Q1 and further explaining the following:
• 1st VDG – options available to clubs to attain a sustainable Q1 Club Growth plan.
• 2nd VDG – identifying and developing future leaders, keeping members fully informed of Lions projects and programs.

District Constitution

Section 2. FIRST VICE DISTRICT GOVERNOR. The first vice district governor, subject to the supervision and direction of the district governor, shall be the chief administrative assistant and representative of the district governor. His/her specific responsibilities shall be, but not limited, to:

1. 1. Further the purposes of this association.
   2. Perform such administrative duties assigned by the district governor.
   3. Perform such other functions and acts required by the International Board of Directors.
   4. Participate in the cabinet meetings, and conduct meetings in the absence of the district governor, and participate in council meetings as appropriate.
   5. Assist the district governor in the review of the strengths and weaknesses of the clubs in the district, identifying the existing and potential weak clubs and establishing plans to strengthen them.
   6. Conduct club visitation as the representative of the district governor when requested by the district governor.
   7. Work with the District Convention Committee and assist the committee to plan and conduct the annual district convention and assist the district governor to organize and promote other events within the district.
   8. At the request of the district governor, supervise other district committees.
   9. Participate in the planning of the next year including the district budget.
   10. Familiarize himself/herself with the duties of the district governor so that, in the event of a vacancy in the office of the district governor, he/she would be better prepared toassume the duties and responsibilities of said office as the acting district governor until the vacancy is filled according to these by-laws and rules of procedure adopted by the International Board of Directors.
   11. Conduct a district quality assessment and collaborate with the district officers, specifically members of the district’s Global Action Team, and other committee chairpersons, during his/her term as first vice district governor to develop a plan for membership growth, leadership development, operational improvement and the fulfillment of humanitarian services to be presented and approved by the district cabinet during his/her term as district governor.

• Submit a written report by due date for cabinet papers. Keeping cabinet officers informed as to your journey as Vice District Govern/s
• Attend all Cabinet Meetings and the District Convention.
• Make verbal comments/report at Cabinet Meetings.
• Report directly to the District Governor, and report any issues ASAP.

• As an Executive Officer, it is important that our district leaders always project a positive image to all cabinet officers. It is ok to vent any frustrations at an Executive Meeting and is welcomed as this can in turn help solve pain points within our District.
• Dismissing the importance of such a role will only lead to member dissatisfaction and ultimately disengagement with the District as a whole, making it harder for future leaders to attract members to take part in this important administrative role.
• Confidentiality - Any discussion between the Executive Officers is NOT to be shared with any other Lion outside this Executive, if you wish for someone else to know about any topic covered - approval from DG to do so is required.
• All outwards correspondence on behalf of the district within your Role as Vice DG is required to be CC to Cabinet Secretary.
• Most important of them all we must always remember we are in Lions for the Community, not for our own agenda. I only ask that when ever you are considering any topic, you consider how it impacts our community, and not make life difficult for others and make any cabinet role harder.
• Project consisitent message to all Lions that we are a Lion because we want to Serve the Community!

• As an up coming leader, it is expected that you will have your own personal goals on how you can make a difference within our organisation, I would encourage you to share any of these goals, as a 12-month period as DG will pass very quickly, so sharing and introducing them as soon as possible allows for stronger development and success in the end.
